More and more, I find it hard to tell the difference between myself and my favorite football team.

Dear Vanderbilt Commodores,

Trust me. I’ve been there. You got caught up in a moment, having a lot of fun in front of someone you really respect and want to think you’re cool, and you did something really stupid and embarrassing. Here’s the thing: Just don’t bring it up. I know. I know it’s counterintuitive. I know you just want to make things better. But drop it. Yes, it happened. It was weird. Just drop it. You keep bringing it up, and it keeps making it worse.

I know that you probably found something in the apology letter that might come across as racist or something, and I know you want to send a second apology letter, but please. You have to stop. This is coming from experience. Don’t send an apology letter for the apology letter. It seems like a good idea. It isn’t.
